Deviated septum surgery also known as septoplasty, is a surgical procedure which is done to fix and correct deviated nasal septum. The main goal of this surgery is to correct alignment of the septum to improve airflow through your nose.
Deviated septum occurs when the cartilage that separates the nostrils, is out of its position, and can cause breathing problems, nosebleeds or even pain.
Condition present at birth, or any damages and injuries to the nose, can lead to deviated septum. The normal aging process may affect nasal structures, worsening a deviated septum over time.
